At the Amigos Center we strive to provide quality social services to every client. We are a friend to people in the community who often do not know where else to go or who else to lean on. We show God’s love by listening to clients, praying with them, and guiding them through obstacles and crisis to get them on a solid foundation to a better future. We help families in the following ways:
In a crisis, families need just a small boost to make it through. We provide emergency food and clothing to help bridge the gap between crisis and stability.
In Immokalee, our formal food pantry hours are Tuesdays, 9-12 and 1-4.
In accordance with Federal Law, U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, and our contract with the Harry Chapin Food Bank our organization is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
We help families know what they need to know to succeed. We teach English and literacy classes, leadership classes, and citizenship classes. We hold community seminars on a variety of topics. Our case worker are knowledgeable on where to find information on hundreds of possible needs so famlies can get holistic help when coming to the Amigos Center.
We know we cannot help everyone on our own. Working hand in hand with partner agencies, we can advocate on the behalf of our families, moving their case along faster than if they tried on their own. We can also advocate on their behalf when they need a voice to speak for them to resolve a variety of issues.
