Students came to from Loyola University MD and James Madison University VA to help with work at the Amigos Center in Immokalee. They helped with the pantry and after a long day of work were able to stay for a meal.
Words can not begin to describe how amazing this day was. 643 families were served with the help of over 40 volunteers. Because of the support of our community, volunteers and partners, these families were able to share in the Thanksgiving holiday with a nice meal. Praise God for all things.
Today, 19 volunteers traveled down from Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg to serve with the Amigos Center. The volunteers were instrumental in helping with Harry Chapin’s Mobile Food Pantry Distribution. In about 2 hours, over 300 families received emergency food ranging from canned goods, fresh juice, bread and corn. “In a month of giving, Amigos Center is truly blessed to be able to show God’s love in what we are doing and give thanks for all that we have by serving others” said Director of Development, Leah H. McCann. “We are truly grateful for Our Savior Lutheran and everyone who made the trip to Immokalee.” Today, with the help of community partners and volunteers, Amigos Center changed the lives of 1,200 people.
