Social Services
At the Amigos Center we strive to provide quality social services to every client. We are a friend to people in the community who often do not know where else to go or who else to lean on. We show God’s love by listening to clients, praying with them, and guiding them through obstacles and crisis to get them on a solid foundation to a better future. We help families in the following ways:
– Assistance –
In a crisis, families need just a small boost to make it through. We provide emergency food and clothing to help bridge the gap between crisis and stability.
In Immokalee, our formal food pantry hours are Wednesday, 9-12 and 1-4.
In accordance with Federal Law, U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, and our contract with the Harry Chapin Food Bank our organization is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
– Education –
We help families know what they need to know to succeed. We teach English and literacy classes in Immokalee. We hold community seminars on a variety of topics.
English language learners enjoy the new upgrade of a smart tv in Immokalee. Thank you to those who made it possible.
Immigration Services
Now located at: 1560 Matthew Drive, Fort Myers Florida 33907
In 2017, Amigos Center helped 1,442 people with immigration services.
The Amigos Center offers family based, country-specific, and victims of crime immigration and citizenship services. We are staffed by two Immigration Practitioners, Christina Leddin, Accredited Representative through the Department of Justice and Lindsay Ray, Immigration Attorney. The Office of Legal Access Programs (OLAP), a department of the U.S. Department of Justice, pursuant to title 8 C.F.R. § 292.2(a) recognizes our Amigos Centers in Fort Myers to provide legal work at a low-cost or pro-bono fee. Many families are unable to pay the fees of a private immigration attorney or do not know where to turn for trust worthy assistance — the Amigos Center gives families a safe and affordable way to take care of their immigration needs.

Our History
Amigos en Cristo
In 1997, the Southwest Florida Circuit of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod called Rev. Robert V. Selle to do outreach to the growing Spanish speaking community. Their goal was to plant new Spanish speaking churches and help their churches do effective outreach to the nations coming to us. The Bible teaches to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19). The churches recognized that the nations were coming to us, and to go to them was to simply reach out to the community around us.
Amigos Center
In 1999, the Amigos Center was founded in order to be God’s hands and feet by attending to the physical, mental, and emotional needs that many immigrant families face. The first center was a store front in Bonita Springs, doing case management. Soon the outreach branched out to offer legal Immigration services. What started with three part time employees and one location has now grown to span two counties, having offices in Naples, Estero, Fort Myers, and Immokalee.

Make A Qualified Charitable Distribution
A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to a qualified charity. QCDs can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year, as long as certain rules are met. In addition to the benefits of giving to charity, a QCD excludes the amount donated from taxable income, which is unlike regular withdrawals from an IRA. Keeping your taxable income lower may reduce the impact to certain tax credits and deductions, including Social Security and Medicare. Please call us for more information.
